Primer Red -Red earths were plentiful and relatively easy to come by so the color is often associated with the colour for priming furniture and as the base coat for gilding. It is a wonderful color on its own or as a base for other colors particularly when distressing.

ADD OLD WHITE - to make 'Venice' Add 8 parts of Old White to one part of Primer Red and you will have the beautiful and distinctive brown pinks of Venice.
